Connect Gmail
Step-by-step guide to connecting your Gmail account to Ingegno for email sync.
Before you start
To connect Gmail, you'll need:
- A Gmail or Google Workspace account
- Access to your Ingegno workspace
- A browser with pop-ups enabled (for the Google authorization window)
Google Workspace
If your company uses Google Workspace, your IT administrator may need to approve the Ingegno app first. Contact your admin if you see a "This app is blocked" message.
Step-by-step setup
1. Open integrations
There are two ways to reach the email integration settings:
Option A — From Settings:- Click Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar
- Select the Integrations tab
- Find the Email card and click + or Manage →
- Click the chat icon on the far-left sidebar
- Under Email, click Account
- Add a new account from there
2. Select Gmail
Choose Gmail as your email provider and click to connect.
3. Authorize with Google
- A Google sign-in window will appear
- Select the Gmail account you want to connect
- Review the permissions Ingegno requests
- Click Allow
4. Verify the connection
- Navigate to the Channels section (chat icon on the far-left)
- Click Email > Inbox
- You should see your emails appearing in the inbox
- Try sending a test email from Ingegno to verify outbound works
Initial sync
The first sync may take a few minutes depending on how many emails need to be synced. You can continue using Ingegno while it syncs in the background.
Sending emails via Gmail
Once connected, you can send emails through your Gmail account from within Ingegno:
- From the Inbox in the Channels section
- From a lead or client profile
The email is sent through Gmail's servers, so it also appears in your Gmail "Sent" folder.
Managing your email accounts
Go to the Channels section > Email > Account to see all your connected email accounts. From the Settings > Integrations page, the Email card shows how many accounts are currently connected (e.g., "7 Connected").
Troubleshooting
"This app is blocked"
Your Google Workspace admin needs to approve the Ingegno app. Ask them to add Ingegno to the trusted apps list in the Google Admin Console.
Emails not syncing
- Check that the connection is still active in Channels > Email > Account
- If it shows as disconnected, try reconnecting
- Make sure your Google account password hasn't changed
Emails not linking to contacts
- Verify the contact's email address matches exactly
- Check your email sync settings in Channels > Email > Settings
- You can always link emails manually
Disconnecting Gmail
If you need to remove the connection:
- Go to the Channels section > Email > Account
- Find your Gmail account
- Click to disconnect
Disconnecting
Previously synced emails remain in Ingegno. New emails will stop syncing. You can reconnect at any time.
